I wrote an essay entitled, “A Tree Branch Falls, an Activist Rises,” about my grass roots activism with the Sandy Hook Promise. I brought the “Start With Hello” violence prevention program to the South Orange Maplewood School District in 2016 and today, all the schools participate in the program each year to create a dialogue around preventing social isolation.
